Trial begins next week For former Wausau substitute teacher charged with child sex charges

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAWNEWS) – According to reports, a former substitute teacher in the Wausau School District is set to begin a three-day jury trial on charges of two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

In Marathon County Court on Tuesday, Zachary Robins, who is 28 years old, attended a final meeting with his attorney and the prosecution before his trial begins next week.

During the period of February 27 to October 15, 2019, Robins contributed her services to the Wausau School District on 19 separate occasions. At that time, Dr. Keith Hilts, the Superintendent of the Wausau School District, reported that Robins had substituted at nine different schools, completing a total of 10 full days and seven half days.

According to court documents, it was alleged that Robins engaged in inappropriate touching with two students at Riverview Elementary School on October 15th. The incident was brought to light by a concerned parent on the same day, and the school principal promptly reported it to the School Resource Officer the following day.

The trial has been set to occur between the 19th and 21st of September.
